I said Oui

So here we go. My first official post! I wanted to take some photos of my ring but after standing next to my window in natural light I realised how ugly and awkward my hands are hahaha! In the end, I kept the ring in the box and decorated it with flowers, hiding my fingers in them haha.

Mathieu proposed to me with the most beautiful ring, it just goes to show that he knows my style and my "annoyingly expensive taste" as he would say. I am not a blingy person, my style of jewellery consists of minimal gold pieces that are either handmade, vintage or just catch my eye on the high street.

I mentioned to Mathieu one day as he was planning a valentine gift for our second year that I would love to start a jewellery collection. I can still see his jaw dropping as if I was about to pull out a Cartier brochure.

I explained that I like gold and simple jewellery and that I don't like diamonds. "What!?" Was his reply, I mentioned that I had seen the film blood diamond and I didn't want to be associated with the diamond trade after seeing the film.

So when he proposed, he surprised me with a handmade "one of a kind" ring from Etsy that was rose gold and had a raw, conflict free diamond. I fall a little bit more in love with it every day. It's perfect. the perfect style, the perfect fit, and was the perfect moment. So cheesy but after all, it was a proposal haha.

What do you think? Are you a fan of gold or silver? Of diamonds or something untraditional?
